Millspaw Electronics Mason, Ohio
Founded in 2019, Millspaw Electronics is an engineering company headquartered in Mason, Ohio. In addition to marketing their own technology, this company works with others to develop, design, and prototype new products. Representing the company, Leigh Skorupskas came to PTAC with the idea of leveraging her previous experience in nuclear and micro-electronics to establish contracts with the Department of Development. PTAC Councilor Billy Grill provided her with DoD’s requirements, including the need to obtain Level 2 cybersecurity certification. This involves a comprehensive risk assessment and the integration of cybersecurity practices into daily operations to address these risks.
Once Skorupskas was aware of the standards and what it took to meet them, Grill provided her with access to Ohio University’s Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) Readiness program. Working with her colleagues at Millspaw, she helped the company adopt the necessary policies and procedures to protect their digital assets, information, and systems from potential cyber threats. When Millspaw Electronics was audited for compliance, the company passed with flying colors and became the first Ohio PTAC client to receive Level 2 cybersecurity readiness certification. This greatly expands their opportunities to subcontract with the Department of Development as well as other clients working with nuclear technology. Although this was new territory for PTAC, Billy Grill was unfazed. “We can’t be experts in everything,” he says. “But if we use our resources, they can be force multipliers for our program and our clients.”
